What Are You Worried About?

2023 was a tough year for the Nixon family!  We faced one attack after another.  I did not think I was prepared or equipped to handle the onslaught of the constant upheaval.  I became fearful, worried, and anxious.  I was exhausted and overwhelmed.  It was then that I realized that I was trying to survive the attacks of the enemy in my strength and not with the power of God that lives in all His children.

I had worried that one daughter would not make it out of the ICU and the other daughter’s diagnosis would lead her to a life of constant medical intervention instead of placing them in the Great Physician’s hands.

I had worried about finances when I was suddenly responsible for a family member’s debt instead of looking to the Father for His provision.

I had worried about issues on my job instead of thanking God that I had a job that He made possible.

The list could go on, but you get the point.

Why had I been so worried?  Why had I thought that I could resolve any of these crises without the help of the Father?  I prayed but then I worried.  I cried out but never left my concerns at His feet.  I would pick them back up as though I knew how to mend the brokenness that had entered my life.

I took a step back and trusted God to fight for me.  As soon as I did, His peace overtook me and the balance I needed was restored.  I was reminded that when we commit ourselves to deny ourselves, take up our crosses daily, and follow Him (ref. Luke 9:23), we can expect challenges to arise in our lives.  He did not promise that this journey would be easy, but HE did promise to be with us.

There is no need for us to worry or work ourselves into a frenzy.  If we believe in His Word, we can trust Him to help us and to move on our behalf at the appropriate time.  Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, YES, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

I have seen God’s hand move in my life and the life of my family.  He has been a constant help in our time of trouble just as He promised.  Even though our trials have carried over into 2024, we have a new perspective.  We focus on the Master instead of the mayhem in our lives.  There are still some difficult days, but He has proven to be faithful to us.

What are you worried about that you have not given to Him? There is nothing impossible for God.

He is willing to help you if you allow Him into your circumstances.

Father, we thank You for Your Word.  You are Faithful and True.  Help us to remain steady, when we begin to grow fearful in the storms of life.  Your Word instructs us to “look unto the hills from whence cometh our help”.  (ref. Psalm 121:1) Your children should understand that our help truly comes from You.  Thank You, Father, for Your constant Grace when we forget.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
